Does anyone out there actually monitor and read this site?
Just thought I’d recommend a Hard Case Crime novel by Stephen King titled Joyland; 2013 Titan books, London. This is the second Hard Case Crime novel of his I have read, the other was titled The Colorado Kid; 2005 Dorchester Publishing Co. Inc., New York, New York. Other authors in the series include Lawrence Block, Donald E Westlake, E. Howard Hunt, James M. Cain, Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins. The cover art for this series is fantastic, done by famous cover artists such as the legendary Robert McGinnis, creator of the posters for the original Sean Connery James Bond movies.

I’m reading Hemingway and Salinger: A Farewell to Arms and Nine Stories. Also A Moveable Feast and an anthology: USA noir. Anxiously awaiting the treasure cache of work J. D. Salinger is supposed to have left behind. I didn’t read all of the best books when I was young. I waited until I was 50 to read some of the greatest American novels. It was fun savoring The Great Gatsby and The Catcher in the Rye after waiting all this time to read them, among others like To Have and Have Not. I also have on hand The Sun Also Rises, The Last Tycoon, This side of Paradise, Brave New World, and One Lonely Night by Mickey Spillane. Some others on my shelf:
The Day of the Jackal – Frederick Forsyth
The Odessa File – Frederick Forsyth
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy – John LeCarre
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service -Ian Fleming
From Russia with Love – Ian Fleming
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold – John LeCarre
Tough Guys Don’t Dance – Norman Mailer
The Ax – Donald Westlake
The Bell Witch, An American Haunting – Brent Monahan
The fall is heavy upon me now as I sit on this overturned tree and ponder the animals’ activity on the sly, they don’t even know I’m here. They really don’t. I think it is possible to forge a manuscript, like a painting.
When is the first of the treasured J. D. Salinger manuscripts going to be published? I can’t wait to get my hands on that. I’m not kidding.
As there are checks and balances among the three branches of government, so should there be between the populace and the government. “ObamaCare” gives the government way too much control in the very core of private issues of citizens. It should be repealed.
